I miss American TV

THERE, I said it. I'm getting tired of poorly dubbed czech over everything. It's annoying. Yeah, sure Czech people want to watch things in their own language, and yeah sure I'm not in America so I should get over it, but I really think that some things just shouldn't be dubbed. It takes away the meaning and value/humor/etc of the work.. I'm not talking about 'Friends' here, but movies and so on.. The Portuguese don't do this. They watch everything in it's native language and use Portuguese subtitles. (which is why Portuguese people have excellent English and understand more slang than any other people who's first language is not English) I even saw some stupid special on the celebrities that do voice characters in Disney movies.. and it was dubbed in Czech.. does that even make ANY sense? Isn't the whole point of the special to talk about their vocal talents? 

And the movies/tv shows that they choose to dub and show here is really beyond me.. It's no wonder that people who can only base their opinion on americans based from TV (because they've never met an actual american) think that we are so stupid.. I swear on tv everyday here, they show the most ridiculous movies. Rambo, Terminator, etc. Really stupid, blow em up types. As for tv shows.. there was one that I especially didn't understand why they chose it, "men in trees".. I mean, seriously? That show barely lasted one season (i think, who knows?) .. there are a million better tv shows that would be worth the money/effort they put into dubbing and airing it here. 

Ok, so there actually was a point to this before I started ranting.. the point was that I have turned to illegally downloading english movies. I've been sick for the past couple of days so I've been just laying around trying to find movies to watch. I came across Amelie and decided to watch it. Amelie is one of those movies that everyone loves, so I was really sceptical as to whether I would like it. Probably in the same way that Colleen didn't want to watch Grey's Anatomy because it was a huge hit, but I forced her and she soon became obsessed. Anyway, I have to say that Amelie was so adorable.. I even went in with the attitude that I wouldn't like it and I still was persuaded otherwise. I want to cut my hair like her but I don't think my face is quite cute enough.. 

I also, shamefully, have become a follower of LOST. It was one of my low points, I needed something to watch. The first 3 seasons I think were really good, surprisingly, but now it's just ridiculous and I get embarassed of myself for continuing to watch it.
